</B></div> <bR> <bR> <div> <B>Pat Butter, a former owner and now of Higgins Creek, submitted this history....</B></div> <div> <I><B>32 Ashton Street was built originally in 1907, by Edward Higgins, son of the original Higgins Family.</B></I></div> <div> <I><B>A brown shingled 2 story with roses planted all around, thus the name "The Rambler".  In 1974 we bought it, according to the deeds only the 8th family to own it.  Having rented it for several summers prior we were well aware of its "peculiarities".  A VERY steep staircase to two bedrooms on the 2nd floor, where the walls only went 7 ft. high & roof was just rafters.   On the first floor ran a long living area, with the staircase in center, a kitchen that hadn't been touched in 20+ years, an ancient wood stove, and a tiny bedroom.  At some point a bathroom was added in the rear and an open deck on back.  Best of all was the glassed in front porch where many an hour was spent playing games, reading, eating and people watching.  We loved the house, with all its oddities, made updates over the years, kept it afloat with lots of paint, but by 1994 it truly had seen its time.  And so we rebuilt it as it stands now, continuing the "cottagy" feel.  We were delighted to sell it 3 years ago to a young family, who have a many year Higgins Beach history (parents rented from us in the 80s-& loved it as much as we did).   </B></I></div> <bR> <div> <I><B>Higgins is a unique place with many happy memories for lots of us.   My parents bought 30 Ashton St (then the Sokokis) in 1947, where my sister and I spent our
